I schedule brow waxings like clockwork, never going more than 5 weeks between sessions. Because of my frequent waxings, I don’t even flinch when I see the wooden stick dripping with wax headed toward my browbone. I’m a pro by now.
I have been faithful to my trusty esthetician at my local spa for quite some time; she shapes my brows expertly. Well, she recently had a baby (congrats!) and is currently on maternity leave. In her absence, I offered up myself up to a woman revered as Philadelphia’s best brow shaper, the definitive expert on all things brows. When I sat down in her chair, she gathered her tools. I began to squirm when I saw a sleek tweezer, and no pot of hot wax. Where was the wax?! There was none. I had an entire brow shaping session of tweezing. (The things women do in the name of beauty.)
Pain does not begin to describe what it felt like to be plucked to perfection after becoming accustomed to waxing. My eyes involuntarily watered. My nose began to run. I was mortified. I felt the pain of all women who pluck their own brows, or who regularly go for pro pluckings.
Here’s something to ease the pain: Senna Cosmetics Black Tea Tonic ($24), a toner that can be applied pre- and post-tweeze or waxing. The all-natural formula is crafted from black tea and cucumber extract to soothe skin and reduce post-tweeze inflammation. It helps to prevent redness and irritation when applied to skin before tweezing, and works quickly to ease the sting of hair removal after it’s over. Just douse a cotton ball in the tonic and sweep over the brow area before and after hair removal. Breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you sidestepped major pain, and revel in the beauty of your brows.

I’ll have to try this – I tweeze my own brows and have been looking for something to take away the sting.

Lauren, I think you’ll be happy with how much it dulls the pain of plucking.

What an interesting product. I love cosmetics that are all-natural.
