Get the Look: Jennifer Lopez on “American Idol”

I’m not a fan of “American Idol,” but I’d have to be living under a rock to be unaware of the buzz that Jennifer Lopez is creating. And this time it’s not about her famous booty — people are clamoring for her makeup, especially her pretty lip gloss. J.Lo is the original queen of the nude lip (way before Kim Kardashian sported it), and her “Idol” looks are no exception. I like that she sticks with a look that works for her.

Good news: it can work for you, too. Wanna rock J.Lo’s pretty glow? Here are the products you need to make it happen.

1. Start by moisturizing with a lotion with SPF. J.Lo is famous for her glow, and dewy skin starts with moisturizer. A light formula, like Olay Complete SPF15, works well here.

2. Ditch the foundation — you want to let that dewiness shine through, and you need to do it with tinted moisturizer. Apply it all over your face & neck, blending well. I like MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15 ($29.50).

3. Bronze, baby. Scott Barnes has been J.Lo’s makeup artist for years, and he created Body Bling ($38) to give her that signature glow. Body Bling is shimmery bronzing makeup. Here’s a trick: apply it by squeezing a dollop onto the back of your hand, and lightly dipping a bronzing brush into the Bling. Buff the brush across your face in circles, blending thoroughly. This will give you the bronzed look without going overboard. You won’t look too tan, just radiant.

4. J.Lo goes for a subtle smoky eye. If your skintone is similar to hers, try crafting a coppery/bronzy eye in warm shades. Sweep on complmentary shades, like Urban Decay Eyeshadows in Chopper and Twice Baked ($17 each). Pair them with MAC Eye Pencil in Coffee ($13).

4. Don’t forget the blush. In the past, Jenny from the Block has worn NARS Desire powder blush ($27) on her cheeks. Dust it on the apples, building the color until you get a femme flush.

4. Finally, THE GLOSS. On “Idol,” J.Lo’s been rocking pretty pale pink lips that are drenched in shine. You can get the look by swiping on NARS lipstick in Cruising ($24) and topping it with NARS lipgloss in Sweet Dreams ($24).
