MAC Holiday ’12: MAC x Marilyn Monroe

The legend of Marilyn Monroe lives on, and becomes the focal point of one of MAC’s holiday collections. MAC x Marilyn Monroe features everyone’s favorite tragic bombshell not only on its packaging, but also in the products. The cosmetics reflect Marilyn’s signature look (minus the platinum curls): the classic red lip, thick black eyeliner, and scarlet nails, all infused with ’50s glamour. Vintage black-and-white photos of Marilyn adorn most of the packaging (everything except the pencils), and her autographed is etched in red on it, too.

MAC Holiday ’11: Glitter and Ice

MAC‘s holiday 2011 collection, Glitter and Ice, features figure skater Johnny Weir. Inspired by smooth ice and sequin-bedecked skating costumes, this collection capitalizes on the sparkle and shine of the holiday season. It’s evident in softly glimmering face powder, twinkling eyeshadow, sparkle-drenched lipgloss, and lipsticks in an array of shimmery finishes. In staying with the wintry, icy theme, all items feature limited-edition white compacts/lipstick tubes/caps.

This collection is huge; it’s actually a series of 4 collections combined into one juggernaut holiday collection. In addition to Glitter and Ice, the other elements of MAC’s holiday 2011 collection are Dazzleglass Spheres, Ice Parade (photos and details coming soon), and Kids Helping Kids (photos/details coming soon).

Sneak Peek: MAC Alice + Olivia, Summer 2010

Design house Alice + Olivia is collaborating with MAC this summer to bring you a 3-product, 9-piece collection saturated with neon hues and moody blues.

Yeah, that’s right: NEON YELLOW LIPGLOSS. For real? I’m digging the polishes, though.

Launches July 8 in the U.S. (perfect for those hot summer nights!), and in August in Korea and Japan only.

Get Ready for a New Gloss: MAC Superglass

If you thought MAC’s sparkly Dazzleglass gloss was full of shine, shimmer, and sparkle, brace yourself for their newest lip launch. Superglass ($18) is a new formula with snowflake-shaped shimmer particles embedded within. They provide a 3D effect, layering light and providing the illusion of lusher lips. The formula is slick, not tacky, and not at all gritty, even with that chunky sparkle. Lightly laced with vanilla, this will even smell good going on. The debut collection includes 9 shades:I’m really liking Sweet Tart and Totally Bang! What are your faves?

The collection launches May 7 in the U.S., and in July around the globe.

Check Out My MAC Lip Tutorial on Makeup & Beauty Blog

In case you missed it a few weeks back, here is my lip tutorial using MAC’s Put a Spell on You Pink lip bag set that was posted on Makeup & Beauty Blog. It was part of the holiday ’09 collection, but substitutes are listed for you to recreate this look with items from the permanent line.

Thanks again to the fabulous Karen for offering me a guest-blogging slot. It was a blast!

MAC Put a Spell on You Pink Lip Set

put a spell on you pink!MAC’s Magic, Mirth, and Mischief holiday 2009 collection is full of so many gems. The majority of the collection is centered around eye and lip palettes, which I normally pass over because there are typically a few colors that you can never wear within a palette. Not so with MAC’s latest creations! The Put a Spell on You Pink Lip Set ($36) is packed with all your lip essentials in totally wearable shades that complement each other.

MAC Dazzleglass in Extra Amps

extraamps1I have raved about MAC Dazzleglass ($18) before. I can’t get enough of it! The non-sticky formula is shiny, sparkly without being over-the-top, and makes lips look luscious. Thankfully, it’s become a part of the permanent collection, so these lipglasses will be sticking around for quite awhile.

Extra Amps is a punchy pink in the tube, but glides on sheer pink and sparkly. Before an evening out this weekend, I layered it over MAC Angel lipstick. It pumped up the color of Angel a smidge, and provided high shine. Imagine your lips dripping in pink diamonds, and you’ll come close to the effect of this gloss.

The photos online simply do not do the colors justics, so I snapped a few of my own for you to peruse. More after the jump. Serious sparkle!

MAC Euristocrats 2 Collection

MAC Euristocrats 2 collectionMAC just launched their Euristocrats 2 collection, boasting six new shades of their destined-to-be-a-legend Dazzleglass lip gloss, and seven new shades of the brand’s classic lipstick with European-inspired names like Milan Mode and Naked in Paris.

The lipsticks flaunt a bold, bright palette. The only subdued shades in the bunch are Patisserie, a wear-with-all creamy neutral with pink undertones that looks perfect for the fair-skinned, and Naked in Paris, a pinky-brown that would suit complexions medium and darker. Attention-getters are St. Germain, a clean pastel pink; Milan Mode, a deep pink infused with pearl; London Life, a deep, pearly berry; and the brightest of the bunch, Cockney, a vibrant yellow red.

Dazzleglass in Internationalist

Dazzleglass in Internationalist

Dazzleglass is thankfully now a permanent fixture in MAC’s product lineup. It’s a form of the best-selling Lipglass, a creamy gloss that glides on lips smoothly with no hint of stickiness. Dazzleglass is infused with high shine and lots of sparkle, for glinty lips that shimmer in even the barest of colors without ever appearing over-the-top. Once again, they got it right with these new shades. The most wearable shades from this collection seem to be Local Colour, neutral pink dotted with flecks of gold pearl; Euro Beat, a peachy coral with gold sheen; and Internationalist (shown at right), pink with blue pearl that is ideal for cool-toned complexions.
