Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipcolor

Bobbi Brown’s got a new lip look, and matte is the name of the game. Creamy Matte Lipcolor ($24) Creamy, comfy, smooth, and glides on like butter. Usually lipsticks this soft feel like they’re drying out your lips (so uncomfortable), or feel like they’re so slippery, they’ll slide right off your lips. Not the case here; this ‘stick resists feathering, fading, smudging, running, and otherwise moving for up to 8 glorious hours. And they’re a whole new ballgame because they’re richly-pigmented for intense color payoff, yet non-drying. Typically, the more pigment in a lipstick, the more drying they tend to be; so richer colors are often the least comfy on lips. Add long-wear power to that, and your lips feel as dry as the Sahara. This turns that whole notion on its head by giving you lush, long-lasting color that feels good instead of cakey.

Available in the following shades:

  • Calypso (pink coral)
  • Latte (warm pinky beige)
  • Pale Peach (light peach)
  • Pink Lily (bright pink with violet tones)
  • Razzberry (medium red berry)
  • Crushed Plum (rich berry)
  • Red Carpet (rich, classic red)
  • True Pink (classic neutral pink)
  • Tawny Pink (pink-mauve)
  • Jenna (bright orangey red)
  • Valencia Orange (bright, vivid orange)
  • Warm Beige (pinky-brown)

The lipsticks are available now online and at Bobbi counters in North America.

Too Faced La Creme Color-Drenched Lip Cream

I am a lip product hoarder. The amount of lip glosses and lipsticks I have in my apartment is embarrassing, and I take a good chunk of that collection with me when I’m on-the-go.  I’m the kind of girl who carries around a giant bag every day, loaded up with stuff I don’t need and hardly use. In my bag, there are always a minimum of 8 lip glosses/lipsticks floating around on the bottom, lost in the sea of other junk that’s stuffed in my purse. I rarely use these lipsticks, partly because I can never find them.

But, one lipstick has lately taken up residence in a coveted spot in my purse: the side pocket. When I stash my latest-favorite lip product in the side pocket, I always know right where it is, and I can always find it. I do this because I actually use it. One quick reach inside my cavernous bag, and my lipstick is in hand. Right now, that side pocket ‘stick is Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream in Marshmallow Bunny, a blue-based light pink.($21). This little beauty looks like a lipstick in the tube, feels like a balm on lips, and wears like a lovely pigmented gloss-balm hybrid. No wonder I’m obsessed.

Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12-Hour Lipstick

Tarte’s signature Amazonian clay has been whipped into a rich, long-wearing lipstick. Glamazon Pure Performance 12-Hour Lipstick ($26) is the merging of luxury and eco-friendly cosmetics. This multitasking stick bucks the trend of drying long-wear formulas by hydrating lips while wearing comfortably for up to 12 hours, thanks to Amazonian clay. The clay also helps the color glide on smoothly, resist fading, and stay put for hours. And it helps battle fine lines around the mouth, while keeping your lipcolor in place (bye-bye, feathering). What can’t this lipstick do?

Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Charmed

Sometimes, you fall hard for a product. Such is the case with Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Charmed ($24).

I had always bypassed these chubby sticks because I hate lip pencils. But this is not a lip pencil! Or a lipstick! Or a gloss!

Forget everything or you know about lipcolor. And then go pick up one of these sticks. You will be surprised, I promise you.

I tried this on a whim, and ended up falling in love. It’s actually a chubby little stick of creamy color that glides so smoothly over lips, depositing a healthy dose of color with a sheer finish. Also, it’s got just the right amount of shine; I don’t like patent-leather lips. But best of all, it feels great on: completely the opposite of lipstick, which typically feels like it dries out my lips, and not nearly as tacky as a gloss. The one word I would use to describe the feel of this on my lips is cushy. And who doesn’t want that ultra-comfortable feeling?

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain

YSL’s new lip lacquer, Rouge Pur Couture ($32), is making major waves, and with good reason. I haven’t purchased this yet, but I tested it out in Sephora recently, and this gloss gives major shine; like a patent-leather finish on your lips.

Clinique Almost Lipstick Expands

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey has been a cult sensation since it was released years ago. Now, Clinique is expanding the ever-popular line of Almost Lipsticks ($15) to include 7 new shades:

  • Shy Honey
  • Tender Honey
  • Chic Honey
  • Luscious Honey
  • Flirty Honey
  • Spicy Honey
  • Lovely Honey

And of course, Black Honey is still in the line-up.

It’s easy to see why Almost Lipstick is so popular: it’s basically lipcolor customized for you. It delivers a sheer wash of color that adapts to your own unique lip tone. When you slick it on, the color morphs into something uniquely flattering to you. It’s like personalizing your pout! And unlike traditional lipcolors, it’s not drying, and drenches your lips in a pretty sheen.

NARS Bento Box Set

Inspired by trips to Japan and the theatrical style of kabuki makeup there, Francois Nars came up with a truly innovative set to complement his holiday 2010 collection. The Bento Box ($125) is not just lipcolor, it’s a work of art. Tucked inside a Bento box are two ceramic kabuki pots. A thin film of rich, highly-pigmented lipcolor coats the interior of the small ceramic bowls. Dip the included kabuki-style brush into the lipcolor to apply.
